Job Description:

Reporting to the School Principal, this position is responsible for providing Cree language instruction as directed by the School Principal in alignment with KTCEA’s Cree language programs and objectives.

Qualifications:

• A minimum 2-3 years experience providing school-based verbal and written instruction in the Cree language, supplemented by training in instructional methods/techniques. Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered
• Fluency in Cree (both verbal and written) essential
• A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, organizations, and communities
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents and community members
• Experience in a land-based education environment an asset
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational abilities
• Proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications as required by the role

Conditions of Employment: RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment
